Mary Moody Johnson

Mary Moody Johnson has demonstrated a collaborative and strategic approach throughout her career as a trusted senior advisor to Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), and in her tenure as the Health Policy Director for the Ranking Member of the Health, Education, Labor, & Pensions (HELP) Committee. In that role, she led the development and execution of the Ranking Member’s health policy strategy, managing both internal and external stakeholders to move forward sound health care policy. Her efforts included negotiating the mark-up of more than 20 bipartisan bills on critical topics such as commercial market payment reform, generic drug policies, national health security, and leading successful bipartisan efforts to increase funding for diabetes research and bolster the health care workforce. As the head of a team of eight subject-matter experts, Mary also managed development and release of policy whitepapers on timely issues such as artificial intelligence, health data privacy, and modernizing U.S. biomedical research.  Additionally, she secured consequential legislative wins, such as the landmark “surprise billing” protection law, by spearheading bipartisan working groups and engaging  a wide array of healthcare stakeholders and experts. In her close to decade-long Hill career, Mary was a sought-after speaker and thought leader on emerging health issues. Mary’s vast experience and deep policy knowledge allows her to distill complex policy issues and effectively advocate for clients to advance their health care priorities.
